Your Heating, Ventilating, and Air-Conditioning system (HVAC) will consist of either a furnace and AC or a heat pump, which both heats and cools. Both types will have an interior unit (evaporator and blower) and an exterior unit (condenser coil and compressor). These instructions apply to a whole-home air-conditioning or heat pump unit.

Is it taking your clothes dryer longer and longer to dry? You may not need a new clothes dryer or costly repair. A clogged clothes dryer vent can restrict air flow causing your clothes dryer to be less efficient and could even cause a fire. A clean clothes dryer vent will help your clothes dryer vent run more efficiently and reduce energy cost.
I have been in the IAQ field for 30 years and have seen it all. I’ve used truck mounted equipment, portable equipment ( the general ) and portable hepa vac equipment with 3500 cfm to 5000 cfm, can suck up a 16 lbs bowling ball. With all this suction power you would think that a little dust in the duct would be no problem. The National air duct association states that without agitation ( rotary brushes) the dust will still be adhered to the inside surface of the duct. So I guess what I’m saying is that Nadca certification is key along with the proper procedures.Consumers can go to the NADCA Website for more great information.
In response to Dan A. I am sorry to hear he thinks air duct cleaning is an out and out scam. I agree there are scam artists in our industry just like any other industry, wish he would’ve explained a little more about his experience.
I’ve been scammed too. I paid the living social special and they came out and did a sucky job and said we had mold so I paid $330 for it and my neighbor said I shouldn’t have because it is hard to get mold out here were we live. They used a shop vac and a bottle spray which probably had clorox. $330 down the drain for free.
At $39 will admit (after asking them several times) that they typically use an electric-powered shop vacuum to clean your ducts. You might wonder how a shop vacuum can remove possibly several pounds of grime?
If you have someone who smokes indoors, cleaning your ductwork is not the answer.  Your ductwork itself is non-porous and will not retain odors.  It is actually the dust in your ductwork that is retaining the odor, so using a quality air filter will again solve this problem before it begins.
This just tell us that we need to clean our air vent every once in a while. To prevent the worsening of an existing allergy. People non-sensitive will also benefit from this because they will not develop allergens from an air vent producing a clean and fresh air. Thank you for sharing.

Just a little friendly advice… you should still research a company, just because they have a website doesn’t mean much. You would be surprised at how easy it actually is to build a website. Almost anyone with a minimal amount of computer savvy can build one, or probably knows someone than can build one.
For my 1968 Buick that sat many, many years before I bought it last year, it had a bad mildew smell the interior and coming from the AC vents. I removed the 49-year old musty carpet and put a new one in which took out 80% of the smell. The remaining smell was in the seats, headliner and door panels and ventilation system. The “Air Clean” Duct Frreshner worked great eliminating musty smells coming from the vents. Close the windows and spray the duct cleaner from your OUTSIDE intake vent with the AC on High non-recirculate at first with windows and doors open. Use the second can and spray half into the exterior vent again, and then tone of the fan and spray the remaining half of the can into all interior vents, then turn on AC and Fan on High, recirculate and close all windows and door and let run for a good 10-15 minute.

I just had my Air ducts “cleaned”. The person who came to my house works for an air duct cleaning company who uses a professional vacuum. He said the company would charge me about $900 but he can do it aside on his own and charge me half of that. However, when he came over the house, he brought the rotary brush along with his domestic vacuum cleaner that it’s hose was about 5 feet long, I ask him that the wasnt strong enough to pull dust out, and he said, it’s similar to what companies use. I was in doubt and he didnt cover the vents so im thinking all dust must have come out from every air vents. Could this vacuum have taking the debris out of the air ducts? Or how can I myself find out if the inside of the air ducts have been cleaned and no debris is sitting there? I have dust all over my house.

Both Dalton and James were professional and extraordinarily respectful. Dalton took the time to explain a few tips around caring for my HVAC system, which was very much appreciated. I need a little time to determine whether the cleaning meets my expectations, as I “live” with it, I will understand those results. I can’t speak highly enough of Dalton and James. Thank you.
Duct cleaning has never been shown to actually prevent health problems. Neither do studies conclusively demonstrate that particle (e.g., dust) levels in homes increase because of dirty air ducts or go down after cleaning. This is because much of the dirt that may accumulate inside air ducts adheres to duct surfaces and does not necessarily enter the living space. It is important to keep in mind that dirty air ducts are only one of many possible sources of particles that are present in homes. Pollutants that enter the home both from outdoors and indoor activities such as cooking, cleaning, smoking, or just moving around can cause greater exposure to contaminants than dirty air ducts. Moreover, there is no evidence that a light amount of household dust or other particulate matter in air ducts poses any risk to health.

In some older homes, there was a grey Mylar flexible duct. After years of use, it started to decompose. A duct cleaning company can come out and find why your air is so dirty and why your building doesn’t heat or cool like it used to. This is a savings on your part. You could also be sucking in Hot, dirty attic air. However, sometimes when a duct cleaning company comes out to clean it, the old duct can be destroyed and have to be replaced. Someone with little experience can replace this ductwork but if it isn’t done right it can ruin a lot of things and cost a lot in repairs.
