Indoor air pollution is a hot topic these days and like every new industry, everyone is trying to get their piece of the pie.  Air duct cleaning is just one part of a broader industry aimed at increasing indoor air quality and promoting good health.  Duct cleaning is a service provided by some companies who utilize vacuums, brushes and chemical cleaning compounds to scrub the inside of your air conditioning ducts and HVAC coils, including supply and return air ducts, heat exchangers and evaporator coils.  The claim is that this will increase the health of you and your family by decreasing the number of contaminants in your air.  If we are being completely objective, however, I think it is important to point out at this point that according to the CDC, there is no evidence that duct cleaning increases your health.  More from the CDC can be found under: CDC – Air Duct Cleaning.
6. Clean return air registers. Sweep out your return air registers. These will likely be fastened with a screw and require your tool to remove them. Again, brush and sweep as far back into the register piping or cavity as you can.

Bee’s Air Duct Cleaning Denver could also be called an HVAC system cleaning.  Every one of our duct cleanings includes cleaning every part of your system that air passes through; the trunk, all supply and return vents and your furnace. When you call for a quote, furnace cleaning will be included in the price of your air duct cleaning. We also offer furnace and a/c maintenance services. with your duct cleaning, however, it is worthwhile to note that warranties on your furnace and a/c may be affected if you do not use the HVAC company that installed your system to provide routine maintenance.
On the interior, warm, humid air from your home’s interior is blown through the evaporator coil. The cold coil absorbs heat from the air, cooling it, before the air is circulated back into your home. The humidity in the air condenses on the cool surface of the evaporator coil as liquid water, dripping into a pan below. From the pan, the water flows into a drain tube which is typically routed into a basement floor drain, utility sink, or outdoors.
I hope that those customers you have with breathing problems don’t follow your advice too closely. You are doing them a disservice. Dirt in your ducts does not always stay there, depending on what the contaminants are. I bet you tell your customers not to worry about mold either- just to kill it with bleach. Educate yourself before opening your mouth- You may kill someone someday with your opinion.
The average cost of keeping your residential ductwork orderly is going to vary greatly from that of a commercial building. This is because commercial air ducts are often larger and more extensive. Residential cleanings can cost an average of about $20-$30 per vent. For commercial buildings, service providers must do an estimate of your space before they can provide an accurate quote. Before factoring in the materials and the number A/C and furnace units, you can expect a commercial project to cost at least $35-$50 per hour.
I am reading theses emails from home owners and HVAC Duct Cleaning Companies. My Advice is Simple. In NC where I live and work, the air duct cleaning Industry is unregulated. There are less then honest companies selling their services every day – even on Angie’s List! I know – I own and operate a HVAC restoration company and see the scams every day!
A year and a half ago (fall of 2015) we replaced the furnace and air conditioner. From what we could determine this was the third forced air furnace and second air conditioner unit for the house. As part of the installation, we changed out the two 6″ ducts feeding the second floor with 8″ ducts. The idea was to get more cold air to the second floor in the summer. It worked and for the first time the second floor and first floor temperatures were the same when the air conditioner was running. Of course, to make the system work I close down upstairs duct damper doors in the winter and open them up in the summer.
I wished I had seen this before I had my duct work cleaned. Everything in the article makes sense and is enlightening to the first time user as I was. Unfortunate for me, the only thing cleaned was my wallet!

Mr. Duct is the number one expert in air duct cleaning: we had called another company out because, truthfully, their pricing was lower, but boy did it jump when they got to the house! Mr. Duct’s estimate was the same as the one given over the phone and we’re happy with the work.
I was amazed at the amount of debris, dust, pet hair etc. that came out of both systems, so in my opinion very much worth it. I wouldn’t say do it again on a annual basis at all…but maybe in 5 years or so.
The final cost of this service is best determined after a professional inspection. Many air duct cleaning companies build their prices based on individual services, while others offer package pricing which includes such components as the air conditioning and furnace. The following estimates can give you an idea of prices to expect for various services.
I have a white gritty dust throughout my whole house. Dust and it comes right back. We have central air. In 2013 had all the air conditioning tubing in the attic replaced. Old ones were completely clean. Why?? Thought dust would be in there. Put everything in plastic containers. Furniture everything is always covered with this. Problem is always there year round. Furnace people said it is not coming from furnace. We built house in 1971. Only started with this @ 19 years ago. Thinking when air conditioning went in. We cough all the time and sneeze. I do not have friends come here because I hate how dirty my house looks.
Mr. Duct offers dryer vent cleaning estimates. Dryer vents with long runs often have many bends and pressurized air may not be enough to move debris out of the line. Our certified technicians will assess the situation for you with an airflow reading, develop a cleaning strategy to remove your debris, and follow up the service with another air flow reading to ensure the debris has been removed.

After a scheduled inspection, the technician recommended a deep duct clean, including disassembly of the motor/blower and heat exchanger. The next day, two guys called me to let me know they were on their way (early!). They wore shoe-booties while in the house and used a pump the size of a large fridge. They told me exactly what they were doing and in what order. They removed the ceiling registers and cleaned them. Afterward, they even vacuumed the areas around the registers to get fallen paint/dust. I have a new baby coming and while I initially thought $700 was high, I found that for a 3000+sq ft house and two 5-ton units it was a great deal.
Al and I just wanted to take a minute to say that John and Frank were great! Very professional and very personable. Because of these two gentlemen I will only use your company for any duct needs. I hope your company knows that the two of them is what gives …
Downtown- Pedestrian-friendly with a variety of hot spots, boutiques, galleries, and museums, downtown Dallas has a lot to offer its residents. Housing options range from affordable high-rise apartments to luxury lofts, providing options for most of the young professionals and hipsters who opt for urban living. With Main Street Garden and Klyde Warren Park nearby, downtown residents also have access to plenty of green space to go out and play.
Duct cleaning is a complete scam, I was a “duct cleaning technician” for a whole week before I was fired for not upselling elderly widowed women $2000 extra for “toxic mold remediation” when their ducts were spotless to begin with. The last two days I was employed there I worked as a “helper” alongside a technician thats been with the company 7 years. He scammed every customer on mold and would at times get as much as $2500 extra for treating “toxic mold” in a typical 3 bedroom house in the suburbs. Wait…it gets even better, the “Biocide” the company used was simply a cheap $4.99 per gallon bought at Home Depot air freshener with no anti-microbial properties that was fogged into the HVAC system for 5 minutes, maybe using 1/2 cup of the stuff. In order to provide the customer with evidence of “mold infestation” the technician would be given bogus mold tests that always resulted in “toxic spores present” regardless if you swabbed the actual duct or nothing at all. Not to mention the actual duct cleaning job (typically $400) did basically nothing and the homeowner could’ve done a better job with a shopvac
While air cleaning devices may help to control the levels of airborne allergens, particles, or, in some cases, gaseous pollutants in a home, they may not decrease adverse health effects from indoor air pollutants.
I guess, I will start with saying that air duct cleaning is almost never needed. It is not a scam, but it is certainly something that uneducated homeowners get suckered into. In regards to air flow, a well balanced HVAC system should be able to deliver more than enough air flow. If you are not getting good air flow, it’s because your system may be out of balance. Additionally, regular cleaning/changing of the air filters will solve about 95% of your problem. Though you would be surprised how many people either a. don’t have a filter or b. don’t know about it and leave it there for 10+years. a washable one should be cleaned every 6 months(spring and fall) and a disposable one should be replaced every 3-4 months.
Some of the research I have done suggests to have your ducts cleaned when you first purchase a new home to remove drywall dust. Maintain your system well and you shouldn’t have to do it again until you want to sell. Those are the two times cleaning was suggested. So for peace of mind maybe it is a good idea to do it even if you buy a used home and then maybe every 5-10 years.
This was only for cleaning the dryer vent, but I would hire them next time I need ducts and other items. Very professional, polite, and timely. They were even early for the appointment. Very satisfied with the job done.
I’ve been in business in Florida for 25 years and purchased a $12,000 duct cleaning system 4 years ago. In the last four years I’ve cleaned 5 duct systems charging around each. Not a very good return on investment. What I have been doing most the time is I get a call by someone panicked because they called some low priced company to inspect their system and were told they have dangerous black mold. Then they call me to have a look. Most the time they don’t have mold, ducts look very clean. However the coils are dirty and the inside of the air handler cabinet needs cleaning. Keep in mind not every system can handle supper high efficiency filters! These filters can block air flow quite a bit right out of the package. Many older systems can’t handle pleated filters due to increased static pressure. “Back rooms with low air flow”. I have taken many hours of classroom study on indoor air quality. Never got any certification because I don’t want to pay another organization dues yearly. I think the problem with duct / system cleaning is most people are suckers for low priced scams that are rip- offs . People call me all the time and ask how much? When I tell them average $400 they hang up. I know I do the job correctly and honestly, and they are going to get racked over the coals by the scam artists by calling $79 whole house duct cleaning guys. People need to check internet, angies list and BBB reviews. But keep in mind even reviews need to be sifted through your rational person filter.
